Baby Dedication

Child/Infant dedication (also known as Baby Christening) is a church tradition. It is not ordained in the Bible, as for example, are baptism and communion. It is a tradition that some churches have adopted from where Hanna dedicated Samuel to the Lord and where Joseph and Mary presented Jesus to the Lord during the time of purification.

The Word Church infant/child dedications serve as a public expression of your desire to follow God and raise your child to love Jesus. By choosing to have your child dedicated, you are making a declaration that your child belongs to God and you are committed to teaching biblical values to your family. However, we want to make it clear that we believe the Bible does not teach or instruct us to perform baby dedication and it by no means holds any promises or guarantees for salvation for one’s child.

The first step in the process of having your baby dedicated to the Lord is to complete a Baby Dedication request form below.

Upon receipt of the completed form, the Membership and Support Services Department will contact you to confirm your request and schedule a date/time for the dedication service.

All dedication services are dependent upon the approval of the senior pastor.
